Obituary

MABEL MARIE IRENE GOODRICH, beloved mother of Richard Goodrich and Donna Hawes of Brunswick, Maryland and Barbara DeVoe of Waldorf, Maryland, left this earthly life to be with her God on February 21, 2008 at the age of 91 at St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg, Maryland. Born on October 30, 1916, to Charles E. and Gertrude E. (Feigley) Renner in Hagerstown, Maryland. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles E. Renner and sister, Catherine Hoopengardner. She graduated from Hagerstown High School. She was a long-term member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Maryland and served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. She served as President of Brunswick's West End Elementary School's Parent/Teacher's Association. She was a substitute teacher at Brunswick High School, worked at the Acme Food Store and Price Electric in Brunswick and National Geographic Society in Germantown. In addition to her children she is survived by her sons-in-law, Wayne Hawes and Lee DeVoe and daughter-in-law, Patricia Goodrich; grandchildren, Gail Witt and husband Arthur, Cheryl Deskins and husband Mark, Kim Shankle and husband Clint, Dale Hawes and wife Kristen, Chris Ashton, Tod Hawes and wife Kris and Rick Goodrich and wife Lindsay; as well as great-grandchildren, Kyle, Joshua, Jennifer, Megan, Bradley, Curtis, Matthew, Brian, C. J., Jonathan, and Grant. A memorial service by Reverend Christopher Ogne, Pastor of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Bryans Roads, Maryland will be held at 11:00 o'clock on February 26 at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. The family will receive friends between 10:30 and 11:00. Graveside services will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine's Nursing Center, 331 S. Seton Avenue, Emmitsburg, Maryland 21727, or Carroll County Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157-5629.
