M. Alice Wingerd, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center. Born March 9, 1929 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Elizabeth (Fish) and Claude Barton Smith, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Victor Wingerd. Alice was a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Rebecca Gay, Ruth Ann Hart, and Debra Wingerd Gladhill; one son, Gary Eugene Wingerd; three grandsons; three great granddaughters; and four great grandsons. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by two sisters, Ollie Levi and Mary Smith; and one brother, Claude B. Smith, Jr. Services will be held 11am Friday, January 5, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Mark Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive fiends Thursday from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home.
