LYNN EUGENE BOWEN, 90, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, MD, surrounded by his family. Born, August 13, 1927 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late John and Bessie (Purdham) Bowen. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1951. Lynn retired from Fairchild/Rohr Industries and also worked at Weis Market. Lynn was one of the first volunteers to join Community Rescue Service as a charter member and one of the first EMTs in Washington County. He was a member of UAW 842, a life member of Funkstown American Legion 211 and Amvets Post 10. He was also an associate member of FOP Lodge 88. Lynn is survived by son, Darryl L. Bowen, daughter, Allison Domer and husband Daryl and son, Dean (Cougar) L. Bowen and wife, Rachel; grandchildren, Melody J. Bowen, Tanner D. Bowen and Alyssa Ortega; two other children, Keith Bowen and Chris Jeter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a sister Betty Ficken. In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Bowen on May 28, 2018; two sons: George W. Kearns, III and Jeffery M. Kearns; four sisters and two brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Brad Selan will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Graveside military honors provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corp. League of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
