Mrs. Loy June (Huff) Toms, 96, entered eternal rest, October 27, 2026, at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1930, in Hagerstown, MD. She was the daughter of the late John Fredrick Huff, Sr. and Catherine (Shank) Huff. She resided in Germantown, MD with her late husband of 75 years, Glenn Allen Toms. June was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Damascus, MD.

Loy June Toms graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1948 and married Glenn later that same year at her parents’ house in Leitersburg, MD. She worked for Fairchild Aircraft Company in Hagerstown, MD until the late 1950’s. She and Glenn moved to Gaithersburg, MD and then to Germantown, MD in 1961. She worked in the Metallurgy Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 1975 to 1998.

June loved to travel the world and visited countries on six continents. She rode camels in Egypt, cruised around Cape Horn, walked the Great Wall of China, climbed to the top of Uluru (formally Ayers Rock) and toured most European capitals and landmarks. She also loved sunny days sitting on the beach and looked forward to the annual family trip to the NC Outer Banks. June and Glenn helped establish the Admiralty Island WWII reunion group in 1993, serving as officers, and helped plan annual reunion meetings and travel. She volunteered at the local elementary school, worked in the Redeemer Lutheran Church office and was always there to help family and friends.

She is survived by her three children: Darryl B. Toms and his wife, Cheryl of Frederick, MD, Gregory S. Toms and his wife Sharon of Annapolis, MD and Lisa D. O’Neill and her husband Kevin of Clarksburg, MD. She is survived by her eight loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John “Jack” F. Huff, Jr.
