Loreda Veronica Elgin, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born September 18, 1930, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Anna Mary (Rae) Stevenson.

Loreda was employed by Ross Garments for ten years and previously worked at the Water View Motel. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a charter member of Hagerstown Professional Fire Fighters, Local 1605, and a member of Junior #3 Fire Department. Loreda loved all her grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Elgin; son, Charles Eugene Elgin; three sisters, Anna Mary Grams, Christine Harris, and Delores Boward; and three brothers, John H. Stevenson, Morris J. Stevenson, and Joseph C. Stevenson.

Loreda is survived by her daughter, Barbara D. Martin, and husband, Keith; daughter-in-law. Cecilia Elgin; two sisters, Lelia Larkin and Jean Day; six grandchildren, Lisa Knight (Allen), Scott Bartles (Shanne), Brian Elgin, Jamie Elgin, Justin Martin (Kim Rose), and Aaron Martin (Danica Trovinger); 6 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11am Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Entombment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
