Lloyd Malcolm Lighter, 94, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born, September 4, 1922 in Boonsboro, MD, he was the son of the late Howard Dorsey and Annie Rachel (Springer) Lighter.
Lloyd was employed for 37 years with Fairchild. He was a member of Elks Lodge 378, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, MD. Lloyd was an avid Washington Redskins fan. In 1937, he was the first water boy for the Washington Redskins.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marijane Hoffman Rowe; son, Lloyd Andrew Lighter and wife, Karen of Hagerstown; daughter, Suzanne Watson and husband, Kevin of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Charles, James, Rachel and Aaron; 6 great grandchildren; and a special niece and nephew, Diane Welsh and husband, David of Boonsboro, and Donald Lighter of FL.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, MD. Rev. Richard Hembrock and Rev. Darrell Layman will officiate.
A private burial in Greenlawn Cemetery will precede the service at the church.
