On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Linda S. Henry, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 72. Linda was born on May 23, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD to Elmer Ray and Edna Gail (Heckman) Sowers. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1965, she worked at Victor Products for 5 years and Xerox Corporation in Leesburg, VA, as the Personnel Coordinator for 25 years, and as a DJ and dance instructor for the CVCWDA, HCWDA and local Senior Centers (Hagerstown, Mt Alto, Martinsburg, Chambersburg and Greencastle). On December 25, 1976, she married William E Henry Jr. Linda loved to dance. She also loved to play cards on Friday nights with friends Jim & Linda Barnhart, Ed & Liz Reese, Cheryl & Jeff South, Don & Bonnie Kendrick and Bills parents (Bill & Lois). Her favorite vacations were cruising with Bill, daughter Jodi & "her favorite son-in-law" Dave as well as many friends over the years. She liked to shop and watch the cooking channel. She had a quick wit, infectious smile, and a kind and compassionate heart. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Ray and her mother, Gail, brother, Robert Sowers, sister, Louise Palmer and grandson, Joshua Henry. She is survived by her husband, Bill, her daughter, Jodi Shoop and husband, David, stepson, Doug Henry, sister, Jean Carbaugh, nieces, nephews, grandsons, and great grandsons. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Tim Lester will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery Social distancing will be enforced, a limited number of people will be allowed into the funeral home at any one time and masks are required. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1050 Industrial Blvd., Ste. 3, Cumberland, MD 21502.
