LILLIAN IRENE STOUFFER, 98, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter's home, on Thursday, December 22, 2011. Born November 23, 1913, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Howard Franklin and Susie Elizabeth Krunkleton Stickler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Guy Stouffer, Sr. She graduated from Teletype School in Baltimore, Maryland, and Columbia Business College in Baltimore, Maryland. She was previously employed by Chatkins Pharmacy Snack Bar, Hagerstown Diary Snack Bar, Newberry's Department Store, and Postal Telegraph at Fairchild Aircraft as a teletype operator for twenty years. She was a long time member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown. For thirty years, she was a member of John Hopkins Research Program. She was also a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211, Ladies Auxiliary, A.A.R.P., and B.P.O.Elks #378. She enjoyed family gatherings, local interests, friends, cooking, baking, writing poetry, crocheting, reading the Herald-Mail, was an avid walker, hiker, and in years past, loved horseback riding and traveling. She is survived by one daughter, Dona L. Nikirk of Hagerstown; one sister, June Harrison of Hagerstown; one brother, Harry Stickler of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Toni L. Webb, and husband Lee, Jeffrey Diseati, and wife Barb, David M. Sapp, and wife Martine, and Jason A. Sapp, and wife Heather; ten great-grandchildren, Laura, Sheridan, Nathaniel, Brittany, Brandon, Haley, Joshua, Ryan, Russell, and Heather; and four great-great-grandchildren, Aston, A. J., Reed, and baby Kennady Lillian. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie L. Diseati; one son, Lester G. Stouffer, Jr.; four sisters, Agnes Martin, Florence Snyder, Edna Martin, and Betty Jenson; three brothers, Raymond Stickler, Clyde Stickler, and Howard (Bud) Stickler; and two sons-in-law, Tony J. Diseati, and Edwin E. Nikirk, II. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, at 11:00 a. m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Nancy Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 to 3 p. m., and 6 to 8 p. m., and one hour prior to the service.
