Leroy "Pete" Carey, Jr., 66, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center. Born, February 6, 1953 in Chambersburg, Pa, he was the son of the late Mary (Peed) Guyer and the late Leroy Carey, Sr. Pete was employed with Martins Food Market as a Produce Manager for thirty years. He was an employee at Maryland Correction Institute as a Supply Officer and worked part time with Washington County Sheriffs Department at the Court House. Pete was a life member of Goodwill Athletic Club. He enjoyed sports, especially Nascar, the Pittsburgh Steelers and vacations at Myrtle Beach, SC. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Sherry (Fahrney) Carey; a sister, Dina Barton Carey of St. Thomas, PA; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; his best friend, Mark Baker of Hagerstown, MD; and his beloved dog, Lance. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by a son, Jason Carey. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, March 15, 2019 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E.
