Obituary

Larry Eugene Swartz, 72, of Williamsport, MD, passed away, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home. Born June 17, 1949, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence Edgar and Rita (Fulks) Swartz Poole and husband, the late William R. Poole. Larry attended North Hagerstown High School and was a member of the wrestling team. He was wounded in Vietnam serving in the U. S. Marine Corps, he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, National Defense Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was employed by Pangborn and Eastalcoa Aluminum. He was a little League Coach at American Little League and a member of Goodwill Athletic Club and Redmen Tribe #84. He loved all sports, especially Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals, and the Atlanta Braves. Larry had a passion for horses and owned three over time, Saras Klever Boy, Kalik Your Heels, and Dixies Wolf. He is survived by former wife and friend, Ruby Swartz; one son, Robert Sellers, and wife, Cherie; two daughters, Jennifer Swartz, and Rita Srikachorn, and husband, Pow; one sister, Penny Nigh; one brother, Clarence (Buddy) Swartz; six grandchildren, Robert Sellers, III, Lacey Sellers, Sara Miller, Klever Gibbs, Crimson Gibbs, and Dutch Srikachorn; numerous great grandchildren, including special buddy, Kaycen James; numerous nieces and nephews, including Sara Smith and his babies, Weezie and Mattie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary E. Swartz; one great grandson, Logan Sellers; sister-in-law, JoEllen Swartz; and brother-in-law, Robert Nigh. Services will be held 11am Friday, April 1, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the funeral home.
