Larry Richard Stouffer, 73, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, near Richmond, IN.
Born February 22, 1949, in Carlisle, PA, he was the son of the late George Richard and Marion Gertrude (Barnhart) Stouffer.
Larry graduated from Williamsport Area Community College in 1969. He worked for Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. from 1969-1973 as an electrical designer of nuclear highspeed attack submarines. He worked for Bechtel Power Corp as an electrical engineer on nuclear and coal-power plants from 1973 until retirement 30+ years later, retiring in order to hunt and fish.
He was a member and officer of Washington County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America for over 44 years, serving on many committees; most notable for 3D archery, still target shoots, sporting clays, youth archery, youth fishing derby, and Wounded Warrior Appreciation Day. He was instrumental with the help of many others in bringing one of the first 3D archery ranges to the tri-state area. He was recognized by the National Office of IWLA as "Big Ike" and was awarded the Tobin Award and also several other awards relating to membership.
He is survived by his wife, June Annette Stouffer; two sons, Jesse A. Stouffer and wife, Kimberly, and Seth C. Stouffer and wife, Chanon; four grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Madison and Alex; one sister, LuAnn Benz and husband, James; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry L. Stouffer.
The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Becky Wessinger will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends two hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
