Kian Kendle Roberts, cherished son of Todd Michael Roberts, peacefully departed this life at his home on February 20, 2025, at the age of 30.
Born Cody Lee on September 20, 1994, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, MD, he was fostered by his father beginning November 2, 1998, and was adopted on April 4, 2001. Upon adoption, he embraced his new identity as Kian Kendle Roberts.
Kian graduated from Smithsburg High School in 2012, where he was known for his achievements in wrestling, soccer, and track. He brought joy and laughter to his workplace at Burger King, earning the admiration and affection of his colleagues through his humor and uplifting spirit.
Survived by his sisters Kristi Leitma and Tonya Becker, and his brother Zachary Crenshaw, Kian is predeceased by his grandparents, Morris S. Roberts and Doris J. Kendle Roberts, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. His love for animals was evident in his special bond with his boxers Apache, Bru Bourbon, and Audrey Agnes, who preceded him in passing.
Kian's life was significantly shaped by a myriad of adverse childhood experiences. He faced early instability and challenges that deeply impacted his journey, yet he showed remarkable resilience in overcoming these hurdles. His experiences fueled his advocacy for mental health and substance use awareness, highlighting the need for compassion and empathy. Kian's legacy is one of hope and resilience, advocating for continued support for those facing similar challenges. Beyond his struggles, he was revered for his warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit, qualities that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His enduring legacy of kindness and acceptance continues to light the way for others, reminding us all of the power of understanding and support in transforming lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Jim Johnson will officiate.
