KENNETH EDWARD SMITH, 66, of Clear Spring, Maryland passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at University Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus in Baltimore, Maryland. Born June 27, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was the son of the late Edward Kenneth and Edith Mary Billman Smith. He was employed with Maryland Correctional Training Center as a correctional officer and previously employed with Statton Furniture Company. He was a member of the Clear Spring American Legion Post 222, Williamsport Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 and Mercersburg Moose Club. Kenneth loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was a Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Orioles fan and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by wife of forty-five years, Ruby Smith, whom he married on September 13, 1969; three daughters, Sena McCarty and husband, Rodney, Krista Triggs and husband, Monte and Stacey Smith and significant other, Paul Hottinger; three sisters, Margaret Rhatigan, Patsy Tederick and Kathy Balsley; one brother, Carl Baker; six grandchildren, Kayla McCarty, Zachary McCarty, Jerry Drury III, Brooklyn Drury, Courtney Royce and Cody Royce and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Baker. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Eric Moser will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by Joseph C. Herbert American Legion, Post #222. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
