KENNETH WAYNE "TUG BOAT" SIMMONS, 64, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away Thursday August 15, 2013 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Born August 24, 1948 in Newton, Texas, he was the son of the late Raymond and Martha Ratcliff Simmons. He was employed as a tug boat Captain by Kirby Inland Marine Station in Staten Island, New York. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and pets. Kenneth was a member of Redmen, Williamsport American Legion Post202 and Western Maryland Sportsmens Club. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, four sons, Kenneth W. Simmons, Jr. and wife Denise Michelle, Christopher A. R. Simmons and wife Angie Marie, Mark Alan Simmons and partner Rich Smith and Patrick S. Simmons, all of Hagerstown; three brothers, Bobby R. Simmons of Clearwater, Fl., Ronald D. Simmons and W. Michael Simmons, both of Call, Texas; a half-sister, Eleanor Simmons of Carson, Ca.; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Jeff Simmons and Raymond Simmons, Jr. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. Pastor James Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on 6 Monday from to 8 p.m.
