Obituary

Kenneth Vernon Bennett (86) passed away on Jan. 15, 2024. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland on January 7, 1938. He is predeceased by his parents Vernon and Viola (Hollada) Bennett. Surviving brothers and sisters include, Rick, Ormy, Deola Forcino, Noni Marconi, and Phyllis Sturtz.

Ken is survived by his wife Sieglinde; two children, Angela Gadoury, of Holtyre, Ontario and Scott Bennett, of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Abraham Bennett, Jake Bennett, and Katie Sampson. He also has eight great grandchildren, Natalie, Emma, Elaina, Evan, Juliet, Ben, Luke and Anika.

Ken was very proud to have served as Sergeant with the US Army's Third Armored Division stationed in Germany in the 1950's. He met his future wife, Sieglinde while in Germany. He often spoke fondly of his fellow soldiers and friends.

Ken worked for the American Tobacco Company and farmed part-time until he was able to build up and develop a successful dairy farm in Washington County, MD. Ken most recently lived in Hagerstown, MD with his wife of over 65 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandkids. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved hunting and any outdoor activity. For most of his adult life, he loved farming and working with cattle. He was known for his "good eye" for quality cattle.

Family and friends will be received at 10:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Hagerstown, MD. All are welcome to attend graveside at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park following the funeral service. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Washington County.
