Kathryn Jeanne Schaeffer, 93, of Maugansville, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Vindobona Nursing Home in Frederick, MD. She was born on April 7, 1929 in Washington County to the late William Pendleton Hovermale Sr. and Ada Long Hovermale.

Kathryn was a longtime member of Harvest Baptist Church in Hagerstown, MD. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Potomac Diner. Kathryn was a self-proclaimed "people person" who loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed sharing meals with them as well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Schaeffer, her daughter, Darlene Griffith, her sisters, Marie Hart, Peggy Plotner, and Retha Shank, her brothers, William Hovermale Jr., Robert Hovermale, Don Hovermale, Harold Hovermale, and Russell Hovermale.

She is survived by one brother, Gary Hovermale of San Antonio, TX, and two sisters, Joyce Marconi and Nancy Clingerman of Hagerstown, MD, her grandson, Michael Griffith Sr. and his wife, Cathy, her great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Griffith, her great-grandson, Michael Griffith Jr., a great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
