Kathryn LaRoi Downin, age 95, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at Williamsport Twin Oaks.

Born March 11, 1930, in Peterstown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Paul Preston and Eva Mae (Francis) Pearce.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Downin II, in 2002.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for 75 years.

She was a registered nurse, retiring in 1989 after working 38 years at Washington County Hospital.

She was a member of the Nurses' Alumnae Association of Washington County Hospital.

She was a past guardian of Bethel #26 of the Internation Order of Job's Daughters.

She was a member of Queen Esther Chapter #3, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia D. Dean of Hagerstown; a son, Dean A. Martin of Smithsburg, MD; three stepsons, Robert L. Downin of Falling Waters, WV and Jeffrey P. Downin and Richard M. Downin, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and two step-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Jones.

The funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Virgil Cain will officiate.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (12-1pm).

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
