KARL GEORGE LICHT, SR., 62, of 11734 Meadowlark Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. Born June 26, 1946 in Sandusky, Ohio, he was the son of the late George Karl Licht and Hedwig Pfrommer Licht. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed with Allegany Optical, and had been employed previously as Manager of the Washington County Teacher's Federal Credit Union. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was Past-President of the Hagerstown Lions Club, a Past-President of the American Cancer Society, and a member of the American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Stoudt Licht; two sons, Karl G. Licht, Jr., and his wife Erin E. (Johnston) Licht, of Hagerstown, and The Rev.Robert Wayne Licht of Littleton, North Carolina; and one sister, Linda Benchoff of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday at John Wesley United Methodist Church located at 129 North Potomac Street in Hagerstown, Maryland. Rev. Richard H. Jewel will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard on Friday from 7 to 9 p. m., and one hour prior to the service.
