Judith Ann (Itnyre) Barnhart, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully at her home, on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, with her daughter and husband by her side.
She was born June 4, 1942, to the late Lester (Ben) and Pearl (Herr) Itnyre.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Barnhart; daughter, Debra (Barnhart) Laferte; grandson, Bryan Laferte, and his wife, Brittany; as well as her brother, Gregory Itnyre; and nephew, Jason Itnyre.
Judith grew up in Funkstown, MD and was a 1960 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She graduated from Sinai Hospital's Diploma Nursing program in 1963 and worked at Washington County Hospital for 34 years as a Labor and Delivery Room nurse, helping to usher in many newborns. Her job was very rewarding for her.
She has one grandson, Bryan, who has always been very special to her. She loved attending all his baseball and soccer games when he was young. She enjoyed many activities even though she struggled with depression. She enjoyed camping with her husband and exploring areas in the eastern USA. She was an excellent seamstress, cross-stitcher, jewelry maker and crafter of all things.
Judith enjoyed reading and loved her kitties, Abby and Katie. She belonged to the Christian Women's Club in Hagerstown, where she shared her love of Christ and fellowship among Christian women. Her faith was very important to her.
A special thank you to Jennifer Richards and Nicole Bussard for their kind care for her at home. Also, thank you to Hospice of Washington County, MD and to Primary nurse, Stephanie Harper and primary aide, Mary Ropp, and all who provided wonderful care to Judith during her illness.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Tom Young will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Reformed Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 6-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic and/or Pet Resort, 17747 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Breast Cancer Awareness Research, 12916 Conamar Dr. #201, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
