Joyce L. (Barkdoll) Sperry, 85, of Hancock, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born October 4, 1939 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Alice M. (Douglas) and Alfred G. Barkdoll.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George A. Barkdoll and Samuel Barkdoll, and her nephew, Justin Eavy.

Joyce was a 1957 Graduate of South Hagerstown High School. In her earlier life, she was employed at numerous retail stores, and the former Fairchild, Rohr Inc, and BF Goodrich, all aircraft companies. She last worked at JC Penney before retiring in 2001 at the age of 62.

She was a member of Hagerstown Christian Church, a past member of Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84, and volunteered with Hospice of Washington County.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Russell Edward Sperry; her son, Paul R. Hull of Austin, TX; one sister, Margaret A. Palmer of Williamsport, MD; her brother, Robert Barkdoll of Clear Spring, MD; one granddaughter, Kirin Bashaw of Victoria, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 9:00am – 11:00am with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

Interment will take place at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
