Joyce Lorraine Fuhrman, 76, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Meritus Medical Center. Born December 24, 1949, in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elmer D. Selby Sr. and Grace E. (Sellers) Selby.

She graduated from South Hagerstown High School, working in computer programming and finance careers, last holding positions at First Data (Fiserv) until retirement.

Joyce had a special love for cats, with a particular fondness for Siamese cats, whose unique personalities always brought her joy and companionship. She also found beauty in the cheerful blue jay, her favorite bird. In retirement, she enjoyed spending her time creating beautiful, beaded jewelry, finding happiness and creativity in each piece she made. Joyce had the unique ability to find joy in everyday moments.

Joyce is survived by her husband Gene Fuhrman; two daughters, Vanessa Hammersla (John) of Williamsport, MD and Jennifer Bowers (Dennis) of Ridgeland, South Carolina; one stepdaughter, Stacey Fuhrman (Tim) of Clear Spring, MD; one stepson, Jason Fuhrman of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Elmer Selby, Sr. of McHenry, MD; one sister, Betty McAllister; as well as nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Natalie Walters of Fayetteville, PA, and one stepson, Gene Fuhrman, Jr.

A graveside service was held at 11am on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD.
