Joy Suzanne Allen, 70, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was born on April 5, 1951 in Hagerstown to the late Frank Bowman Allen and Jane Bowers Allen. Joy worked for many years as an educator in Washington County teaching English and reading, as well as, coordinating specialized learning programs for students. Her more recent years before retirement were spent teaching at Boonsboro High School, followed by Boonsboro Middle School. She herself, loved to read and enjoyed listening to music. Joy was a devout Christian and will be remembered for her kind, caring, and generous spirit she shared with those around her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, K. Scott Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Jane Hose, her nephews, Alex Allen and Christopher Allen, and her partner, Edgar Morrison. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
