Josephine Marie Benner, 90, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Fahrney-Keedy.

Born March 8, 1933, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Faulders.

Josephine was an avid hiker. She loved the outdoors and was also an animal lover.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Benner; son, Michael Benner and wife, Yovonna; two grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Lisa, and Scott and wife, Julia; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Oliver; and two brothers, Dale Swope and Marvin Swope.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Lee Benner; sister, Phyllis Miller; and two brothers, George Saum and Lionel Swope.

The funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.  Chaplain Dana Mersereau will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery, Mapleville, MD.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 6-9pm.
