Joseph Messick Zimmerman, Jr., 96, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at Elmcroft of Hagerstown. Born November 21, 1923 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Joseph Messick Zimmerman, Sr. and Elizabeth (Campbell) Zimmerman. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, D. Winifred Zimmerman. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He retired from Mack Truck after 22 years of employment. Joseph is survived by two daughters, Lanita Yeargan and Linda Lawson, both of Clear Spring; three grandchildren, Shannon Yeargan and companion, Matt, Thomas Yeargan and wife, Branda, and Leslie Hanky and husband, John; and two great grandchildren, Lilly Jane Yeargan and Leah Joy Yeargan. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russel Zimmerman, Vernon Zimmerman, and Charles Zimmerman; and one sister, Helen Eichelberger.
