JOSEPH LUTHER SOLOMON "TOMMY" THOMAS III, 63, of Boonsboro, Maryland, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. Born December 19, 1945, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph Luther Solomon Thomas, Jr. and Mary Jane Mowen Thomas. He received a degree in accounting from Hagerstown Business College. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 12 years. He retired from M.C.T.C. as a dietary supervisor after 27 years, and was previously employed as Office Manager for Antietam Motors. He attended Virginia Avenue Church of God. He was a member of Washington County Antique Tractor Club, Farm Bureau and was a Pigeon fancier. He was a Notary Public. He is survived by his wife, Connie Sprankle Thomas; a daughter, Shelley Thomas of Hagerstown; a son, Mark Solomon Thomas and wife Laura of Boonsboro; a sister, Constance Elizabeth Thomas of Boonsboro and a grandson, Michael Solomon Thomas; a nephew, Greg Bowers and a great niece and a great nephew. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Dr. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Cemetery.
