JOSEPH EDWARD MARTIN, SR., 73, of 16 South Artizan Street, Williamsport, Maryland, died on Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital. Born November 2, 1933 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Lester Nave and June P. Shaffer Hawbaker. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Harvey and Virginia Martin. He attended South Hagerstown High School. He owned and operated J & M Roofing, retiring in 1992. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Cenie Martin; two daughters, Robin L. Netz of Needmore, Pennsylvania, and Linda Weight of Smithsburg, Maryland; three sons, Joseph E. Martin, Jr., and Michael L. Gatrell, both of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Edward W. Gatrell, Jr. of Williamsport, Maryland; one brother, Albinos S. Young of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and one special niece Nan Pfeiffer. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest J. Young. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
