Joseph Samuel (Sam) Gentry's Obituary
JOSEPH "SAM" SAMUEL GENTRY, 92, of Falling Waters, WV passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1925 in Dobson, NC, he was the son of the late Kimber Nelson Gentry and Jimmie Bates Gentry.
Sam was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving in World War II. He was previously employed with Blue Ridge and Greyhound Bus Company's as a bus driver for thirty-eight years and Tristate Truck Lines and U.S.A. Cartage for seventeen years.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Sam is survived by his wife, Elaine Elizabeth Myers Gentry, whom he married on February 6, 1944; two daughters, Margaret J. Hildebrand and R. Eileen Reid; one son, Charles N. Gentry; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Don Allen Gentry and a brother, Homer Gray Gentry.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
