Obituary

Joseph Francis Bach, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Doeys House. He was born October 24, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Joseph A. and Frances I. (Desch) Bach. Joe worked for the Social Security Administration for a number of years until transitioning into the security services field. He pursued that profession at the former Western Maryland College, Sears of Frederick, Hood College, and Fort Detrick. Involved with the Boys Scouts of America for much of his life, he was an Eagle Scout, attended Wood Badge, earned the Silver Beaver Award, and served as Mason-Dixon Council Commissioner. Joe enjoyed being a Civil War reenactor, was an avid history buff, and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Active in many civic organizations throughout his adult life, he was also a fan of his hometown sports teams, the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Barbara; his sister Dianne Borlie and her husband Larry; his son, Eric and his wife Kazumi; his daughter Christina Dryden and her husband James; his three stepchildren Daniela J. Himes and her husband Skip, Russell Sirk and his wife Jea, and Zachery Sirk and his wife Alicia; and, ten grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 11:00am - 12:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 12:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
