JON ALLEN MOWEN, 66, of Smithsburg, Maryland, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 13, 1944 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of Helen Mancini Mowen of Hagerstown, Maryland and the late Blaine A. Mowen. Jon was a 1962 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School and a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College. He retired 2001 from Mack Trucks as a test engineer in the E & R Department with over thirty years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of the UAW Local #1247. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Lucille E. Mowen; one son, Blaine A. Mowen, II and wife, Christal of Hagerstown; one grandson, Lucas A. Mowen of Hagerstown; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the memorial service.
