John Michael Shriver, 72 years old, departed his life and entered into the gates of Heaven on November 11, 2022. He was born May 30, 1950, in Hagerstown at the Washington County Hospital; fathered by George N. Shriver and mothered by Alice F. (Michael) Shriver.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 42 years, Joyce M. Shriver on January 1, 2021. Survived by his son, Michael Shriver; daughter, Jacqueline M. Shriver; son-in-law, Habib; his "princess" granddaughter, Jawaria; caring sister, Mary Alice Shriver of Hagerstown; and several cousins.

In 1968, John graduated from South Hagerstown High School. In 1970, he graduated from The Institute of Computer Management in Baltimore.

John belonged to Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. He was the Chaplain of Funkstown Post 11 Sons of the American Legion. He was a member of the Washington County Republican Club, a previous member of the Hagerstown Old Time Railroaders, and served on the Washington Republican State Central Committee from 1982-1994. In 2019, John retired from Widmyer Driving School where he taught for 35 years. From 1994-2018, John served on the Orphans Court of Washington County where he served as Chief Judge for multiple terms.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11am. Rev. Jerry Lowans will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
