John "Jack" Reichard Schindel, III, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Doeys House in Hagerstown, Maryland. Born February 28, 1939, he was the son of the late John R. Schindel, Jr., and the late Laura Hammond Schindel. He was a graduate of the South Hagerstown High School class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963, 2nd Armored Division known as "Hell on Wheels," stationed primarily in Fort Hood Texas, serving as an armor communications specialist and radio mechanic. He started working in 1955 at the Grover Sprecher Farm, and later worked for their family business, Arnetts Garage in 1957. Jack worked in various positions including selling large farm equipment. He left in 1983 to join the family business, Schindel, Rohrer & Company, established in 1914. He later worked as a licensed home improvement contractor and real estate investor. He is survived by daughters Julie M. Yoder (and husband Douglas A. Yoder) of Smithsburg, Md., and Jo Anne Calandrelle (and husband Steven W. Calandrelle) of Hagerstown, Md, as well as grandchildren Kaitlyn J. Yoder of San Antonio, Texas; Rachel A. Yoder of Charlotte, North Carolina; Nicole F. Calandrelle and Eric S. Calandrelle, both of Hagerstown, Md. He is also survived by his brothers, Hugh H. Schindel (and sister-in-law Rayetta Schindel), and Michael K. Schindel, Sr. (and sister-in-law Vicki Schindel), both of Hagerstown, Md, as well as a niece and several nephews. A private memorial service was held at the convenience of the family due to COVID restrictions. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, Md. Memorial donations in Jacks honor may be given to the Humane Society of Washington County or Hospice of Washington County.
