JOHN JACOB "BONES" MEHRLING, 71, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his home. Born November 28, 1945 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late George P. and Helen C. Toms Mehrling. He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1963. John served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Windy Hollow Hunt Club, Old Town, MD, Moose Lodge #1790 Mercersburg, PA, Improved Order of Redmen Tribe #84, Williamsport, MD, and Vietnam War Veterans Last Man Club. He was a Chartered Organization Representative with the Boy Scouts of America Troop and Pack #23, Post 211, Funkstown, MD, Elks Lodge #378, Amvets Post 10, Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Past Commander 1991-1992 and also served as County Commander, and on the American Legion Post 211 Baseball Committee from 1982 2017. John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Mullenix Mehrling; a daughter, Susan Mehrling, Hagerstown, MD; a son, David Mehrling, Hagerstown, MD; a sister, Barbara L. McCoy, Funkstown, MD; a grandson, Jordan Dickens, Hagerstown, MD, a granddaughter, Katelyn Mehrling, Hagerstown, MD and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. G. Stanley Steele will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017.
