John Joseph Gildee III, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center. Born August 20, 1942 in Wilmington, NC, he was the son of the late John Joseph Gildee Jr. and Evelyn Stevens. John received a B.S. degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters degree from George Washington University. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 24 years, a member of the Parish Council and served as a Eucharistic minister for those who could not attend communion. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Gildee; three daughters, Tammie Burzynski and husband, Kenneth, Eva Gildee, and Denise Baire; two sons, John J. Gildee IV and wife, Colleen, and W. Keith Gildee and wife, Tisha; one brother, W. Thomas Gildee and wife, Jeanne; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Monday, September 16, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave, Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. John Jicha will be celebrant. Burial will at 2pm Monday afternoon at the Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Ave, Baltimore, MD. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
