John Wayne Conley, 74, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
Born in Hancock, MD, on December 29, 1943 to the late John and Nettie (Breeden) Conley.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda L. Long; and five siblings, Gordon Breeden, Dorothy Frazier, David Conley, Mammie Shifflet, and Stanley Conley.
He is survived by his wife of 53 wonderful years, Janet M. (Smith) Conley; two daughters, Janet M. Smith of Hagerstown, and Barbara A. Price and husband, Gary, of Hagerstown; son, Terry W. Conley, Sr., of Hagerstown; son-in-law, Bryan Long of Clear Spring, MD; one sister, Joyce Morris of Symerna Beach, FL; three brothers, Charles Conley, Sr., Steve Conley, both of Hancock, MD, and Dale Conley, Sr. of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. John drove for Escambia Pole in St. James, MD, and Creasey Company Whole Food Distributers of Hagerstown in the sixties and seventies, and then went to work for Arnold Graphics (Reynolds and Reynolds) of Chambersburg, PA, until his retirement in 2005.
John loved his family dearly. He liked to talk about growing up back in the good old days and family. He also enjoyed taking drives with his children through the back roads and hills of Hancock, MD, where he grew up. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held at 11am, Monday, January 15, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. James E. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
