John William Cauffman, Sr., 56, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at his home.
Born in Hagerstown, MD on November 14, 1966, he was the son of Lillian "Joni" Ecton and the late John Owen Cauffman.
He was a 1984 graduate from South Hagerstown High School. He retired from M.C.T.C. as a correctional officer for the State of Maryland and was previously employed at Moller Pipe Organ in Hagerstown, MD. John was most recently a master craftsman in woodworking.
He was a professional avid duck pin bowler for over 25 years. He was a 35-year member of the Elks Lodge #378 of Hagerstown, MD. He was #1 in the Tri-State area for several years. John loved to work in his shop, but his greatest passions were trips to Ocean City and fishing with his boys and grandchildren.
John is survived by his mother, Lillian "Joni" Ecton; sister, Tammi Lynn Itnyre (Cauffman); three sons, John William Cauffman, Jr. (Jess) of Hagerstown, Jacob Owen Cauffman, Sr. (Paige) of Hagerstown, and Noah William Cauffman of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren, Alyssa Eddington, the late Gabriella Cauffman, Bentley Turner, Brynnlee Cauffman, Gage Cauffman, Kinsley Cauffman, Jacob Cauffman, Jr., Londyn Cauffman, and Teegan Cauffman; his stepmother, Brenda Cauffman; stepbrother, Johnny Reese (Lisa); stepsister, Niki Lewis (Doug); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Owen Cauffman; brother-in-law, Karl W. Itnyre; and stepfather, Paul "Ears" McNeal.
The funeral will be held 11:00am Friday, April 21, 2023, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor AJ Roberts will officiate. Burial will be at Boonsboro Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
