Obituary

JOHN JAMES BRADFIELD, 66, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Dec ember 8, 2013 at his home. Born December 28, 1946 in Lonaconing, Maryland, he was the son of the late Boye and Elizabeth Langley Bradfield. He was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed with General Motors in Martinsburg for 38 years and consecutively with the State of Maryland as District Court Commissioner for 18 years. He also worked with investigative services for the State of Maryland and was also employed with Bowman Trucking. John was a member of Medairy Lodge #140 A.F. & A.M. of Williamsport; V.V.A. of America; Moose Lodge of Williamsport; Funkstown American Legion, Post 211; Good Fellowship of Cumberland; North American Rod & Gun Club; NRA; Outdoor Club, Cumberland, Maryland. He had also volunteered with CRS. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Helmstetter Bradfield; two daughters, Courtney Plume and husband Paul, of Big Pool, Maryland and Nicole Bradfield of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Ashley Plume and Lindsay Bradfield; a grandson, Adam J. Plume; two cousins, Tommy Langley and Inez Galligher; an uncle, Jim Langley and aunt, Wanda Langley. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Charles Holder will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. by Medairy Lodge #140 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cumberland, Maryland. Graveside military honors will be conducted by VVA of Cumberland.
