John Robert Beard, 72, passed into his heavenly home serving his Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Berkeley Medical Center.  Born May 1, 1952 in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph Lewis and Helen Elizabeth (Wolfensberger) Beard.

John dedicated 30 years to working at the prison. In his free time, he was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jacqueline Beard; his daughter, Kelly Staup (Matthew); his grandchildren, Jacob, Jaxon, and Henry; his brother, Joseph "Butch" Beard; his sister, Frances "Joanie" Printz (John); his brother-in-law, Robert B. Crookshank; his sisters-in-law, Laura Harker and Robin Hanes (Jeff); and his fur babies, Chance and Casper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry W. Beard, and his son, Terry J. Beard.

The funeral will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Samples Manor Church of God. Rev. Joe Goetz will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service (1pm).
