JOANN MARIE SPRANKLE, 73, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her home. Born February 14, 1940 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Whittington. She was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School, class of 1958, where she served as treasurer for the reunion committee. She was a 50 year member of Christ's Reformed Church where she served on the Bereavement Committee. Joann owned and operated Larry's House of Gifts. She enjoyed watching her granddaughters play soccer, and perform in band and dance. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry Sprankle; three daughters, Sophia Bedard and husband Dave, Paula Kessler and husband John, and Cindy Paxton, all of Hagerstown; seven granddaughters; two sisters, Debbie Bridendolph of Williamsport, Maryland, and Brenda Dusing of Inwood, West Virginia. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin Street, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Gregg R. Meserole will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard.
