Joann Elizabeth Benner, 86, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, September 25th, 2023, at Doey's House in Hagerstown.

She was born on September 1, 1937, in Hagerstown. Her parents were the late Kenneth Wiebrecht and Mary Elizabeth (Randall) Wiebrecht.

Joann was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

Joann was employed at Roxbury Correctional Institute in Hagerstown as a Correctional Dietary Supervisor for 16 years until her retirement. She wasn't off work much, but when she was, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling; her greatest adventures included traveling to Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, and Morrocco in 1996.

She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Hagerstown.

She is survived by sons David Benner (Lori), John Benner (Brenda), Mark Benner (Theresa), Douglas Garner (Christine), daughter Ruth "Sissy" Miller; brothers Kenneth "K.C." Wiebrecht (Sharon), Randy "Satch" Wiebrecht; sister Susan Dalberg (Wesley) of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law Linda Green. Grandchildren Tracy Worden, Michael Benner (Kelly), Brian Benner (Kate), Nickolas Benner, Benjamin Benner (Brenna), Cody Hite, Abby Garner, and Sarah Beth Garner. Great grandchildren Ethan and Maria Worden, Hannah and Hayden Benner and Maverick "Douglas" Renner.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Jack and Gary Green.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15am on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service (10:00-11:00am) at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
