Joan Ann Martin, 73, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018. Born January 17, 1945 in Annapolis, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elvin L. and Eula Grey (Lamm) Sears. Joan was known for her infectious smile and love for all. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold. Besides spending time with her children and grandchildren, one of her all time favorite things to do was listen to Conway Twitty. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Colton Villa in Hagerstown for over thirty years. She attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Clear Spring. Joan is survived by two daughters, Michelle Martin of Hagerstown, MD, and Tracy Durkin and husband, Jared, of Warrenton, VA; one sister, Connie Jones and husband, Carl, of Annapolis, MD; one brother, Arlen Sears of Steamboat Springs, CO; seven grandchildren, Ryan Chaney, Brittany Lambert and husband, Michael, Breanne Chaney, Alexis Cook, Matthew Durkin, Jacob Durkin and Kaylee Chaney; five great grandchildren, Chase Judd, Joshua Lambert, Kendall Day, Mikayla Lambert and Devin Lambert; niece, Lori Sears; and nephew, Eddie Lamb. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her faithful and loyal canine companion, Boomer. A Celebration of Life will be held 11am, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 22 Cumberland Street, Clear Spring, MD. The Rev. Father Steve McCarty will officiate.
