Joan is survived by her daughter Carol Sowers (Rick); daughters-in-laws Carol Knight and Patty Knight; grandchildren: Nanette Horst (Brian), Michele Harp (James), Daniele Sowers, Nathanael Sowers, Dustin Knight, Kami Sykes (Jim), and step-grandson Quintin Haworth; great-grandchildren: Rebekah Kelly (Jeremy), Isaiah Horst, Jeremiah Horst, Brianna Harp, Jedidiah Harp, Hailey Harp, Jimmy Harp, Judah Harp, Joshua Harp, Malachi Harp, Asher Sowers, and Marayah McEntee; and great-great-granddaughters: Abigail Kelly and Naomi Kelly. Joan is also survived by three siblings: Joy Sandy, Lois Dawson (Jim), and Robert Holbruner (Sue); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Floris Knight of 60 years; and her two sons: Cregory (Creg) Knight and Joel Knight.

Joan was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, playing the piano and the organ, and she also sang in a gospel quartet. She worked at Dorbee Sewing Factory, Fairchild, played the organ for Osborne Funeral Home, and for many years ran Candlelight Inn Bed & Breakfast out of her home.

Joan loved spending time with her family at the farm, in the kitchen, sitting on the porch, or wherever. She enjoyed taking the golf cart down in the field to watch the birds and animals. She always marveled at God's masterpiece sunsets. She loved sewing and painting crafts and was a vendor at many craft shows where she loved meeting people. We will always remember her beautiful smile.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD with the memorial service directly following at 11:00am with Rev. Dale Carver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Doey's House (send to: Hospice of Washington County at 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740) or Hagerstown Bible Church (203 Summit Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21740).
