Jo Ann Pellegrini, 80, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Born June 15, 1945, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ramsey Voorhees and Vivian Lorraine (Miller) Voorhees.

Jo Ann graduated from Pennsbury High School in Morrisville, PA, in 1963. She obtained a nursing degree at Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ (now part of Capital Health System) in 1966. She then enlisted as an RN for the U.S. Air Force. Following that, she worked at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, OH, and later in the operating room at Washington County Hospital (now Meritus Medical Center) in Hagerstown, MD. Jo Ann met Dr. Michael "Steve" Rudman in 2008 and retired from nursing on June 30, 2010. They moved to Atenas, Costa Rica in 2010 and returned to Hagerstown in 2017.

Jo Ann was an active member of Pathway Community Church on Salem Avenue. She was a passionate animal lover, having a number of cats and dogs as pets. In Atenas, Costa Rica she attended Iglesia Biblica and was involved with Fundacion de Animales de Atenas, an animal rescue group where she and her husband raised funds for the group and fostered a number of dogs. In Hagerstown, she was active as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children, and as an escort for the Hagerstown Reproductive Center. She was a member of the Arsenal of Angels and of the North American Rod and Gun Club. She was especially devoted to her aunt, Jannie Baker. Jo Ann loved to travel and in her later years visited Canada, Spain, Israel, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, France and England. She and her husband took a 52-day cross-country motorcycle and camping trip in 2012. She loved watching birds, animals and baseball games with her husband. She had a beautiful and fulfilling life and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Rudman; his three daughters, Rebecca Hackworth (husband, James), Abigail Overbay (husband, Kelly), and Madeline Golding (husband, Elliot); her aunt, Janice Baker; seven grandchildren, Justin, Alexander, Arya, Benjamin, Giles, Paris and Skye; daughter in law Tonya Newberry (husband, Chris); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her son, Jason Pellegrini; brother, Robert "Buddy" Voorhees; and ex-husband, Rick Pellegrini.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Justin Repp and Pastor Ted Simon will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
