JIMMY W. RIDENOUR, 87, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport, MD. Born January 6, 1926, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the foster son of his aunt and uncle, the late Edith and Ed Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthanna Brant Ridenour on August 27, 2013. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army with the 104th Infantry in Europe during World War II, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge of which he was very proud to have, Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He entered combat in January of 1945. Fought in Belgium, crossed the Rhine River at Remagen Bridge Head and helped liberate the concentration camp Dora-Mittelbau at Nordhausen. He was wounded outside Bitterfeld, Germany, April 20, 1945. He was of the Protestant faith. He previously was employed with W.D. Byron and Son and retired from Central Chemical. He was a charter member of the local Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the 104th Infantry Timberwolf Association. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Holloway and husband Ronald of DE; a son, J. Brant Ridenour and wife Darlene of Hagerstown, MD; one grandchild, Joseph Holloway; niece, Ellen Brant, nephew, Chris South; brother in law, Charles South. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
