Jesse Eugene Lewis, 99, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Born December 16, 1921 in Garfield, MD, he was the son of the late Ralph and Delva (Harne) Lewis. In 1989, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Martha Lewis. Jesse was co-owner of Lewis Brothers Contracting. He loved hunting, fishing, his church, and gospel music. For 25 years, he played his guitar and sang to nursing home's residents. He is survived by his son, Gaylon Lewis (girlfriend, Elaine); brother, Melvin Lewis; sister Mary Jane Caudill (husband, Croy); grandson, Dylan Lewis (wife, Lacy); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Kipe and her husband, Joe; and sisters, Vivian Harbaugh, Irene Dean, Lottie Cauffman, Pauline Swope, and Ellen Smith. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, March 15, 2021 with Pastor Paul Swope officiating, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
