JEFFERY MILTON KEARNS, 48, of Hagerstown, Maryland, son of Janet and Lynn Bowen of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He survived thirteen years after a double organ transplant. He was born November 7, 1958 in Hagerstown, Maryland. He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1976. He was employed as a correctional officer with the Maryland Correctional Institution. He was a dedicated volunteer at Lincolnshire Elementary School. He was a lifetime member of the P. T. A. He received the Golden Apple award for volunteerism from the Washington County Public Schools, volunteering 8, 871 hours since 1999. He was treasurer of the Springfield Middle School P.T.A. He is survived by his wife, Robin Crilly Kearns; one son, Brady Kearns, at home; one sister, Allison Domer of Boonsboro, Maryland; two brothers, Darryl Bowen of Hagerstown, and Dean "Cougar" Bowen of Williamsport, Maryland; a step-mother, M. Juanita Kearns of Martinsburg, West Virginia; two half brothers, Kevin Kearns of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Bill Kearns of Hedgesville, West Virginia; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Kearns, Jr.; and one brother, George William Kearns III. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Monday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Brian Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p. m.
