Jeannette Ellen McMahel, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 1, 2021. She was born on December 1, 1928 in Worleytown, PA, to the late Daniel Ray Burkett and Julia (Hicks) Burkett. Jeannette attended the Sun Rise School in Worleytown, PA. She attended First Baptist Church of Hagerstown as well as Paramount Baptist Church. She was a talented seamstress and sewed for many people from her home. She also worked for Victor Hosiery, E.J. Fennel Co., and Maidstone. Jeannette later worked at the North Hagerstown High School cafeteria. However, her real joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. McMahel, her brother, Grover Burkett, and her sisters, Evelyn Summers and Olive Nisewonder. Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Luann Moore and her husband, Darryl, her grandchildren, Danielle L. Moore and Jeremy "Mo" Moore, and several nieces and nephews. All services will be private.
