JEANETTE MARY BLAZES, 82, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD. Born, October 6, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander J. and Mary C. Koval Kwak. Jeanette was a life- long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was previously employed as a teacher's aide with the Washington County School Board at Kemp Horn and Marshall Street School. Jeanette loved and enjoyed practicing her catholic faith. She was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Jeanette is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, William G. Blazes, Sr.; daughter, Susan A. Fowler and husband, Jon, Smithsburg, MD; two sons, William G. Blazes, Jr., Smithsburg, MD and James W. Blazes and wife Jennifer, Hagerstown, MD; sister, Ann Kwak, Wilkes-Barre, PA; brother, Edward J. Kwak, Shavertown, PA and six grandchildren, Kristen Fowler, Anna Blazes, Jill Blazes, Capt. Jon Keith Fowler II, Alexander Fowler and Christian Blazes. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph A. Kwak. A Mass of Christian burial will becelebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. George A. Limmer and Rev. Larry Adamczyk will be concelebrants . Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rosary will be recited at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic School Endowment Fund, 218 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
