Obituary

Jeane Elizabeth Kadle, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Williamsport

Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 2, 1933, in Cambridge City, Indiana. She was the daughter of Elsie M. (Avery) Hockett of Alberta

Canada and Herbert Glenn Hockett of Indiana.

She was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church for over 30 years, then joined the Mt. Zion Mennonite

church in 1992, where she continued to attend until the present.

She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1951. She received her RN license after attending HJC Nursing

Course from 1973-1975. She worked as a nurse for Washington County Hospital, Health Dept, and Western

Md. Center, but most of her nursing career was with the Developmentally Disabled at Potomac Center;

Washington County Human Development Council; Lycher Inc and Anita Lynne Home (now Star Community).

She served on the Quality Assurance Team at Star for a time.

She taught classes in CPR with The Heart Association and CPR and First Aid for over 20 years with the Red

Cross. She wrote curriculum for HCC course on the care of the Aging Developmentally Disabled and taught it

there. She became a percussionist with the Hagerstown Community College New Horizon Band when it began

in 1997. She had been an active volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages and World Treasures Thrift Stores

sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Gene Kadle, a daughter Kathy Hepner, of Hagerstown, and a son

Chris of Hagerstown. She was preceded in death by a daughter Dawn Barker Heiser in 2003 and a son Doug in

2016. She has 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in

death by her brothers, Charles Hockett in 1929, James Hockett in 1986, and Herbert Hockett in 2009.

Throughout her life everyone that meet her said how sweet and kind she was, and she always thought of others

first. She will be dearly missed.

A special thank you to the staff at Meritus Medical Center and Williamsport Nursing Home for taking special

care of her.

There will be no viewing. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. If you desire to make a memorial
