JEAN ELIZABETH RECHER, 85 of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Homewood Assisted Living in Williamsport, Maryland. Born January 30, 1928 in Chewsville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Unger and Alice Amelia Longnecker Shilling. For 19 years, she lived with her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Walter Shilling on their farm in Chewsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Recher, who died May 24, 1991. She was a homemaker and a life time member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville, Maryland. She taught kindergarten Sunday School there for 30 years. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Recher Davis of Fairfax, Virginia; her son, Gary Recher and wife Mary Anne of Smithsburg, Md.; sister Louise Mozingo of Farmville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Lisa Gumaer and husband Nathan of Stafford, Va., Jonathan Recher of Los Angeles, Ca., Amanda Sorg and husband Aaron of Waynesboro, Pa., Kim Brown and husband Corey of Winchester, Va., four great grandchildren and one nephew. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, Maryland. The Rev. Linda A. Warehime will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery in Wolfsville, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md.
