Jay M. Fretz, 70, of Greencastle, PA., died Thursday, November 11, at home. He was born April 23, 1951., in Sellersville PA. to Walter R. Fretz and Emma R Fretz. He was the husband of Beth E. Fretz for 48 years. Jay was a graduate of Grace College in 1973 and then Grace Theological Seminary in 1978. After graduation, he spent the next 40 plus years pastoring five different Grace Brethren Churches. Jay was an avid collector of neat things. He loved his rocks, butterflies, lighthouses, and knives, amongst other things. He loved photography and sharing his pictures with others. He also loved his dogs and his family and most importantly he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. Jay was truly gifted at connecting with people. This was seen in the passion he had for ministering to his congregations for over 40 years. He truly cherished the relationships that came from his ministry and the many friendships that came along the way. Jay is survived by his wife Beth Fretz of Greencastle, PA; daughter Rachel Gannon and husband Andrew of Flora, IN., and son Joshua Fretz and wife, Lexi of Greencastle, PA.; grandchildren Michayla Fretz, Emma G. Fretz & Mia Fretz. Jay is also survived by two brothers, James Fretz and wife Kathy of Pennsburg, PA, John Fretz and wife Barbara of Canton, GA and a sister, Jane Hennig and husband Bernhard of Rutsweiler Am Glan, Germany. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Walter J. Fretz. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, November 17 at 1:00 P.M. at Maranatha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Dr. Hagerstown. Visitation with the family will also be held at Maranatha Brethren Church Tuesday, November 16 from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. A second celebration of life service will be held at Brookville Grace Brethren Church, 665 W. Westbrook Rd., Brookville, OH at 11AM on Saturday, December 18, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay's memory to Water for Good.
